Virtual care, also known as online care or an e-visit, is a convenient way to get care for many common conditions. You can connect with a provider from your computer or mobile device to get a diagnosis, treatment plan and prescription (if needed). Many clinics offer virtual visits, in addition to in-person visits.

Virtual care may be a time-saving option for common conditions like:

  • Allergies
  • Bladder infection
  • Cold and cough
  • Ear pain
  • Flu
  • Migraines
  • Pink eye
  • Other non-urgent, common health conditions

With a virtual care visit you could save time by avoiding a trip to the doctor’s office and get care from the comfort of your home, work or wherever you are. You can initiate the visit at your convenience – no appointment needed. Get care when you need it – visits are often available after clinic hours, sometimes even 24/7. You may even save money depending on your plan.

To check your plan’s coverage for virtual care, see your coverage document on your secure member site (listed on the back of your Medica ID card). Or call Customer Service at the number on the back of your ID card. To learn more about virtual care options with your plan, visit Medica.com/FindADoctor. Click on Member through employer, select your plan and choose Virtual Care Providers.

Did You Know?

When you receive care, you and your health plan usually each pay some of the cost. This is called cost sharing. Check your coverage document on your secure member site (listed on the back of your Medica ID card) for how the cost is determined and divided up.

Deductibles, coinsurance and copayments are all examples of cost sharing and describe an amount that may apply when you receive care. See the Deductibles, Copayments and Coinsurance member tip sheet to learn more. If you have questions, call Customer Service at the number on the back of your Medica ID card.
