Preventive care matters
Preventive care helps keep you and your family healthy by catching a potential health issue early or preventing it altogether. Things like a regular checkup, routine screenings, and immunizations are examples of preventive care. Getting your recommended preventive services and making healthy choices are important steps to your overall health and well-being.
Now is a great time to make the most of your family’s health plan benefits. Here are some additional examples of preventive services:
-
Preventive prenatal care
-
Well-child visits
-
Screenings for cancer – such as breast (mammogram or 3-D mammogram), cervical (Pap smear), colon (colonoscopy, computed tomographic (CT), colonography)
-
Screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, depression, alcohol and tobacco use, sexually transmitted diseases
When you visit a network provider, your plan covers the preventive services you receive during that visit at 100%. If you receive non-preventive care services at your preventive care visit, you’ll pay a share of the costs. Learn more about the difference between preventive and non-preventive services in the Preventive care member tip sheet.
