Catch-up time for vaccines
It’s no surprise the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted routine well-child visits in the last year (or more). To get ready for the back-to-school season, now is the perfect time to make sure everyone is back on track with their vaccines. Check with your child’s doctor to see which vaccines are needed to get your child – including preteens and teens, up-to-date before school starts. Getting caught-up on your child’s immunizations is the best way to protect their long-term health, as well as yours and other loved ones, especially during a pandemic.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also recommends that everyone 12 years and older get a COVID-19 vaccine. Getting a vaccine is the best way to protect you and anyone you come in close contact with. If you have questions, please connect with your doctor. For vaccine availability and scheduling, check with your local health department or visit VaccineFinder.org. To learn more about what you and your child or teen can do when vaccinated, see the CDC website.
And don’t forget about your annual flu vaccine. This one should also be on your list for everyone six months and older. A flu vaccine helps lower the risk of respiratory illness during the upcoming flu season. Learn more about the importance of vaccines on our preventive care website. |
